Thus, the new layer identifies areas where:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="text-align:Justify;margin:0 0 11 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt"&gt;- tree planting will benefit geomorphology through river restoration when morphological pressures were present in a particular section. Note: existing morphological pressures have not been included in this layer apart from riparian vegetation loss. Further work is currently being undertaken by SEPA to consider other existing morphological pressures. The mapped outputs of this work will be made available in due course and could inform more detailed project stages. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="text-align:Justify;margin:0 0 11 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt"&gt;- and sections where lack of trees are exacerbating geomorphological process like bank erosion etc. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="text-align:Justify;margin:0 0 11 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt"&gt;This layer classifies the cells into high, medium, low priority for riparian woodland planting. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="text-align:Justify;margin:0 0 11 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;This layer is for:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="text-align:Justify;margin:0 0 11 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt"&gt;- Riverwood. Woodland extension tool&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="text-align:Justify;margin:0 0 11 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt"&gt;- Local Development Planning – This layer could be used as a source of evidence at a strategic scale to identify where riparian vegetation, and particularly woodland could be beneficial to the water environment within a catchment. It is noted that site specific assessments would be required to inform individual projects. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="text-align:Justify;margin:0 0 11 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Method:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="text-align:Justify;margin:0 0 11 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN STYLE="font-size:12pt"&gt;The layer makes use of the sections where the vegetation condition is poor or moderate for each bank (good condition and other habitats are excluded from the analysis) and sections where the recovery potential of the channel is high. GIS steps: ArcGIS Pro
1. Buffer 100m (flat end) to “SSP_Restoration_Reaches” à SSP_Rest_Reac_Buffer_Flat
1. New field with score/priority: 1 to 3 (See table above)
2. 606 records without “Recovery Pot” value were allocated priority 3. The lack of data is due to lack of data on slope, Qmed, etc. 2. Buffer 5m each bank (flat end) to “Rip_Veg_Quality” à Rip_veg_Q_Buffer
1. Remove sections in “good condition” and “other habitats” and new polygons with no values after creating the buffer.
2. New field with score/priority: 1 to 2 (See table above)
3. Select by location: first I create 3 layers (data export) from SSP_Rest_Reac_Buffer_Flat. One for “Low and No data”, “Moderate” and “High and RTC”. Now I can select from “Rip_veg_Q_Buffer” by location (intersect, starting with low energy, finishing with high and RTC, this allows to override lower values, when a vegetation segment is overlapped by two different energy values) for each of the energy classes and I can allocate values in the new fields in Rip_veg_Q_Buffer:
1. Energy Priority Score (this is the value from the table above for Energy). 689 records were deleted as 2. Planting score: adding the two fields: Prioty Planting (rip veg) + Energy priority (3.a above). This produces the final planting value.
3. Final planting priority: High, medium, low, as per described in table above. 4. Raster. The data are converted into raster. 25m cell size, (nearest): Rip_Plant25n
