<idPurp>These maps have been produced to meet SEPA’s duty to publish flood hazard maps as set out in the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009. The maps show where there is a risk of flooding from rivers, the sea and surface water. </idPurp>
<idAbs>&lt;DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;&lt;P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;The following probabilities are available for surface water &amp;amp; small watercourse flooding: High - 10 year return period, Medium - 200 year return period, Low - 1000 year return period, and the 200 year return period plus climate change using rainfall uplifts for 2070 from the FUTURE-DRAINAGE project. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P STYLE="margin:0 0 0 0;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;The FUTURE-DRAINAGE project is based on analysis of the UK Climate Projections 2018 (UKCP18) high resolution (UKCP Local) projections for Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 (RCP8.5). <statement>The Surface Water and Small Watercourse flood maps were developed at a 2m spatial resolution using the results from two-dimensional (2D) flood modelling method applied nationally across Scotland. The small watercourses modelled are those with a catchment area of &lt;10km2. Rainfall inputs are based on UK Centre for Ecology &amp; Hydrology’s Flood Estimation Handbook Depth-Duration-Frequency model, FEH22 for the summer season. Adjustments were made to the rainfall data to account for losses; infiltration in pervious areas and drainage losses in impervious areas. For pervious areas, the rural Revitalised Flood Hydrograph (ReFH) v2.3 loss model was used, whereas a modified ReFH v2.3 urban loss model was applied to impervious areas. A drainage rate of 15mm/hr was also applied to account losses to the drainage system in impervious areas The climate change scenario used mean rainfall uplifts for each river basin region calculated from the FUTURE-DRAINAGE project uplifts for the 100 year return period central estimate (50th percentile) for 2070. The FUTURE-DRAINAGE project is based on analysis of the UK Climate Projections 2018 (UKCP18) high resolution (UKCP Local) projections for Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5 (RCP 8.5). For catchments greater than 10km2 the fluvial influence from major watercourses and large waterbodies was removed via a drainage sump applying during hydraulic model simulations. The underlying ground model is made up of a national-scale composite Digital Terrain Model (DTM) consisting of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and photogrammetry data. Buildings are explicitly represented into the DTM as a flat 0.3m upstands from the natural ground level. Surface roughness and permeability are based on land use classifications derived from Ordnance Survey MasterMap. </statement>
